FAQs

Have a question? We have gathered our answers to the questions that our customers often ask us, in one convenient place.

Q: Do you provide free, no obligation quotes?

A: Yes, we have always taken this approach and always will. Please contact us to arrange a convenient site survey.

Q: How quickly will you provide a quote?

A: This depends on the size, nature and complexity of your project as they are fully itemised. However, on average, it should take no more than 10 working days.

Q: Can I buy my own materials?

A: Yes, you can of course supply your own “personal choice items” and we can also put you in touch with trusted suppliers to assist you.

Q: How are payments made?

A: We take payment via BACS and will invoice you according to your agreed payment plan. The timing of these payments will be determined once you have chosen to go ahead, and will be presented to you as part of your dedicated welcome pack.

Q: Are you VAT registered?

A: Yes, our VAT number is 356 3614 91.

Q: Can you provide references?

A: Yes, we are happy to put you in touch with one of our previous customers so that you can learn more about what it’s like to work with us.

Q: Do I need drawings?

A: It depends on the type of project. Any structural changes will require drawings. A structural engineer may need to be consulted if any load-bearing walls are being removed.

Q: Do I need to use my local building control?

A: No, you can use a private company but they need to give notice to the local authority 5 days before works commence.

Q: Do I need a Party Wall Agreement?

A: Only when it affects your neighbour’s property i.e. Building on a boundary, works to shared walls & structures, excavations close to their property.

Q: Will you always have someone on site?

A: We pride ourselves on working on each project from start to finish and will manage our workload to ensure this.

Q: Will your work be certified?

A: We offer a 12 month insurance-backed guarantee, as well as a 3 month retention payment at the end of the job.

Q: What insurances do you hold?

A: Public liability insurance up to £5 million and employer’s liability insurance up to £10 million.

Q: Working hours?

A: Our team usually arrives on site between 7.30 am and leave at 4.30 pm Monday to Friday.

Q: How do I track the progress of the build?

A: You will be provided with a weekly Gantt Chart updated with the progress / delays of your project.

Q: Toilet facilities?

A: If you have agreed we can use these, they will be cleaned thoroughly before we hand back to you daily. We would prefer a Portaloo in a suitable position outside, if your budget so allows.

Q: Will my property and items be protected?

A: There will be dust, but we will cover & protect the site as much as possible. Removal of personal items is advised to eliminate the risk of accidental damage.

Q: Your neighbours?

A: We will ask for you neighbours details.

Q: Extra costs?

A: Our estimate should include all costs unless there are some unforeseen costs once the build starts i.e. Woodworm. We will bring these immediately to your attention.
